Notes

  • [a] The sepoltuario of 1580 referenced by Stefano Rosselli described the chapel as having in the floor a square marker (tassello quadro di marmo) that carried an inscription
  • [b] According to the Registro Vecchio (Bent, 642, doc. 30), the chapel's first mass was celebrated on Christmas Day 1371.
  • [c] Piero requested an annual mass on the feast of St. Peter, to whom he had dedicated his chapel.
  • [d] The brothers Cammillo and Francesco del Palagio installed a marker in their family chapel in 1624.
  • [e] The Cappella del Palagio was oriented north at the head of what could be called the chapter room's transept. The della Stufa Chapel was oriented to the west, sharing the corner with the del Palagio chapel and opening off of it.
