In the year of the Lord 1372 Andrea di messer Ugone della Stufa caused this chapel to be made in honor of Saint Andrew Apostle and for the healing of his soul and those of his dead.

[a] Rosselli described the altarpiece as an "acona, o tavola assai antica." Richa provided its inscription with the date 1372.
[b] The first mass was said in the Lotteringhi della Stufa chapel on November 30th, 1371 in remembrance of the patrons' father messer Ugo and all the dead of their family.
[c] The altarpiece carried the date MCCCLXXII (1372).
[d] Andrea is documented as giving funds for a chapel dedicated to his name saint where the first mass was said on November 30th, 1371.
