To God the Most High. For brother Francesco Buonarroti son of Lionardo, knight of Saint John of Jerusalem, in accordance with the principal cause of the commander brother Antoine de Paule Grand Master of the Italian Langue, who was preeminent through his prudence with secret matters, his faith, candor of heart and his exceptional knowledge of the institutions and accomplishments of his order, Michelangelo Buonarroti placed this monument in order that there would be a place for his sweetest brother among the bones of his ancestors. He died in Malta on the 4th nones of October [October 4th] in the year of salvation 1632. His age was 58. |
