Notes

[a] Girolami Ceffini acquired a gravesite formerly belonging to the Giovanni family on 23 April 1562. It is not clear whether the grave's plain stone cover had been installed before Ceffini took possession or was his commission, but he marked the burial spot as his by having his family's coat of arms painted on the pier above. The sources do not give a patronym, and there are at least three candidates for which Girolamo Ceffini owned the tomb.
