Carmine 061.2 Elisabetta Masini:

Notes

  • [a] Niccolò di Cristofano Masini and Jacopo di Masino di ser Francesco left funds for masses in 1437, the former to be held on the feast of Saint Francis, the latter for Saint Sebastian. Other family members left additional funds for additional offices. Though the tomb was left to the hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in 1531 and received a new marker, Masini family members continued to use the tomb.
  • [b] Given that Jacopo di Tommaso left an endowment for the feast of St. Sebastian, it is highly likely he was buried in this tomb. Gravedigger records could confirm date of death and place of burial.
  • [c] The Carmine Libro Padronati notes his burial in this tomb and that he left funds for the feast of St. Francis at his death on this date.
  • [d] Jacopo di Tommaso Masini left funds for an office in 1494 and presumably was buried in his family's tomb. Gravedigger records could confirm specific date and place of burial.
  • [e] Giovanni di Jacopo Masini left funds for an office in this year. Gravedigger records could confirm specific date and place of burial.
  • [f] After Elisabetta's death on November 6th, 1531, renovations were undertaken to the Masini family tomb that included a new inscription honoring her and the addition of the coat of arms of the hospital of Santa Maria Nuova which she nominated as her universal heir.
  • [g] Carmine records indicate that the original family tomb was a slab that carried the family's arms. It is likely that this tomb remained as part of the monument renovated in 1531.
