Notes

  • [a] The confraternity of S. Maria delle Neve, this altar's likely patron, was founded on May 23rd, 1445. According to Eve Borsook, they requested a chapel and two tombs for their use.
  • [b] Stefano Rosselli reported that rights to the chapel were taken back by the nuns of Sant'Ambrogio and conceded to Michele Cardinali, who refurbished it with inscriptions and his family arms.
  • [c] Stefano Rosselli did not know the name of the confraternity that originally owned the altar on the north side of the church near the main entrance, only that they gathered in piazza Sant'Ambrogio. This was likely the Compagnia di S. Maria della Neve, which was associated with the church and had a communal tomb for female members nearby.
