  • [a] Note that the new church of San Romolo, built in 1349-50, was oriented to the north, with the main door on the south side facing the Piazza della Signoria. Thus the actual orientation of the chapel is east, though the liturgical orientation is to the south, as the chapel was on the righthand side upon entering through the main door.
  • [b] Given that Rosselli described the tomb in this chapel as very old (molto antico), the dell'Antella may have been the patrons of this chapel from the inception of the rebuilt parish church.
