A small church was built on the site of the oratory of SS. Cosmas and Damian given to a group of Dominican friars from Fiesole. They quickly outgrew it and their new convent, which was eventually rebuilt thanks to an enormous bequest by Castello di Piero Quaratesi, who was buried in this church in 1468.
