Notes

  • [a] The grave plot found in the south aisle between those belonging to Antonio Salutati and Alfonso della Casa originally belonged to Niccolò di Guasparri di Niccolò Vannini. Prior to 1441, his descendants (nipoti) sold the grave to Francesco di Piero di M. Giovanni Dini, whose son Agostino installed a new slab to honor his father, who had died by 1494.

Why Agostino did not embellish the deposit next to the monks' choir where his father's first wife had been laid is unclear, but it is likely that he had commenced building a new family altar against the counter-facade and thus wanted his father's tomb to be nearby.
