This clergyman, general of our order, enclosed in marble, from the family of the da Uzzano, with the name Jerome, brother flies with us to the stars in the heavens from here and we preserve the corpse in this tomb in the year of the Lord 1390 on the 23 day of November.

  • [] Giuseppe Richa noted that the inscription was difficult to read thanks to its Gothic script, which he called "stravagante." He does not indicate how the words were arranged on the stone, but his reference to them as "versi" and his disposition of them in four lines suggests that they were lines of text, possibly using the letter "v" in place of "u" as was customary. He mistakenly transcribed the date as 1490 (MCCCCLXXXX) instead of the correct 1390 (MCCCLXXXX).
