  • [a] Stefano Rosselli records the inscription on the tomb slab as honoring don Garzia, Abbot General of the Camaldolese Order, who died on the nones of August 1597. The ASFi copy mis-transcribed the date as 1547.
  • [b] Farulli (1710, p. 81) reports that Don Garzia received an impressive funeral in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and then was buried in a marble tomb in the chapter room.
  • [c] Given that Don Garzia was the Abbot General of the Camaldolese Order, his tomb not only honored him, but also his order.
