Notes

  • [a] According to Passerini, Bardo married Colomba di Sandro Rinucci in 1350.
  • [b] Bardo's last known activity was serving as Podestà of Pontenano in November 1389. His grandson and namesake was born on October 28th, 1405, suggesting he had died by that date.
  • [c] Bardo di Guglielmo Altoviti was elected to the priorate on August 28th, 1360 from Santa Maria Novella, Vipera.
  • [d] Bardo Altoviti was elected to represent the Vipera district to the Sixteen on August 29th, 1370.
  • [e] The 1439 sepoltuario only gives the tomb owner's name as Bardo Altoviti and indicated it had not been finished with a marble slab but was "ammatonata." The owner was likely Bardo di Guglielmo di Vinta Altoviti, active in the second half of the fourteenth century, who secured the burial site at the foot of the fourth pier in the right aisle that was refurbished in the early seventeenth century with the stone that is there today.
  • [f] Gravedigger records would confirm both Bardo's date of death and whether he was buried in grave he had secured but not decorated in the church of Santa Croce.
  • [g] Bardo served the Vipera district in the Tre Maggiori.
