[a] After describing the tombs of don Girolamo da Uzzano, don Garzia, and don Bartolomeo del Caccia, Stefano Rosselli notes four unmarked, marble grave covers that he believed were used for burial of the monks.
[b] Don Placido died at his monastery less than six years after he joined. He was most likely buried in one of the monks' tombs in the chapter room.
[c] The Registro Nuovo documents don Benedetto's burial in the convent, most likely in one of the chapter room tombs set aside for the monks.
[d] The Registro Nuovo documents don Michele's death in the convent, and he surely was buried in one of the monks' tombs in the chapter room.
[e] The Registro nuovo notes don Filippno's death at age 77 but says nothing of where he died or was buried.
[f] The Registro Nuovo records don Niccolaio's death in the convent. He was most likely laid to rest in one of the monks' tombs in the chapter room.
[g] In the list of professions at Santa Maria degli Angeli from 1336 through 1413, don Bartolomeo is listed as dying in the monastery. He surely was buried in one of the four graves in the chapter room.
[h] In his biography of Lorenzo Monaco in the first edition of his Vite (1550, p. 216), Giorgio Vasari notes that he was buried in the usual tomb of the monks (nella solita loro sepultura pietosamente riposto). He also quotes an epitaph (p. 217), but this was surely only a literary memorial and not carved on any of the monks' tombs in the chapter room. It is impossible to know which of the four graves was used for don Lorenzo, but we can be certain he was buried alongside his brethren in the chapter room. It is puzzling that Vasari omitted his description of Lorenzo's death and honorific epitaph in his second edition.
